Flavors on Fire will host hands-on cooking classes as well as private parties, dinners and date nights for groups up to 15 guests. All of our food experiences will feature open-fire cooking techniques on our two XL Big Green Eggs, from the comfort of our climate controlled studio.

Our 5 year mission is to become the premier cooking studio in Houston, by offering our guests unique and memorable food experiences. We want to expose guests to new flavors, cooking techniques and food cultures.

Job Description

We are looking to add passionate Chefs to our team to teach Cooking Class and host Private Dinners. Teaching people how to cook over a charcoal fire should get your heart pumping!

Most of our classes and private events consist of several hors d’oeuvres, an appetizer, main course with sides and a dessert for a 15 person group. As the Cooking Studio Chef, you will be the center of attention during these events. We expect you to be comfortable with cooking and entertaining at the same time.

A typical food experience includes the following activities and responsibilities for you:

Plan – plan out a menu and test out any new techniques and recipes of needed.

Purchase – work with owner to determine required ingredients and order / purchase.

Prep – in the afternoon, work with sous-chef to prepare ingredients / cook hors d’oeuvres

Setup – prior to class set up cooking equipment, clean and load up grills, work with host to set up plates and silverware, go over guest list

Teach / Host – teach cooking classes to our guests, or host private dinners. Entertain guests, be informative, be patient during cooking process. Pour wine and beer if needed. Guide and direct sous-chef, clean up as you go.

Clean Up – work with the rest of the team to clean up the kitchen, discuss feedback with owner and other team members.

The team during any given food experience consists of four people: the chef (you), a sous-chef, a dishwasher and a host / waiter. Lastly, you will work closely with Tim, the owner of Flavors on Fire, throughout the purchase and teach/host parts of the food experiences.
